MIT periodically conducts studies on the impact of MIT alumni, including the 1997 study prepared by the BankBoston Economics Department to ongoing research with the 2003 Founders Study.
In early 2014, MIT sent invitations to all living alumni asking for assistance in helping MIT understand and explain the impact of MIT. This work was sponsored by multiple MIT offices, including the Office of the Provost, the Dean for School of Engineering, and the Innovation Initiative. The survey closed at the end of April 2014.
