Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED)

An external doctoral exit survey of note is the Survey of Earned Doctorates. It is an annual census of all research doctorate recipients in the United States. The SED has been continuously conducted since 1958. Government agencies and academic institutions use the SED results to make decisions regarding the funding of graduate education, the development of new programs, and support for existing ones.

You can find more information about the SED at https://www.nsf.gov/statistics/srvydoctorates/.
